How to Make Big Savings on Groceries

If you’re a little bit organized, a good planner and flexible, you can easily save $100 a week on your grocery shopping for a family of four. Laura Rowley’s tips focus on using (and organizing) coupons, following some key websites and doing a reasonable amount of planning ahead. Some of her most interesting tips include:
- Clip coupons and organize them by date, and check websites like myClipper where you can collect more coupons. Be prepared to spend some time at the start to get to know the coupon systems and organize your coupons, but after you get used to it the savings in time and money can be large.
- Track product prices, or follow a website that does, so you know when the prices are at a good discount and when they’ve hit rock bottom. Then stock up in bulk with non-perishable items.
- Be brand flexible. Don’t choose a grocery item simply because that’s the brand you always buy (even if you chose it before because it was the cheapest - things change).
- Try shopping online too - for example, it’s not so widely known that Amazon has an online grocery store of over twenty thousand non-perishable items, and shipping is free if your order is over $25 - and they often have big discount specials.
