Fuel-Efficient Cars to Help Your Economy

Continuing in their upward spiral, gas prices show no signs of relief, so it may be time to take a look at what kind of car you’re driving. Many Americans make the daily work commute along, and do so in cars built for off-road adventures or big family trips. If you fall into this category, you may want to consider trading your now-more-expensive-than-ever gas guzzler in for a more fuel-efficient model.
The Honda Civic GX seats four comfortably, yet gets a whopping overall 28 miles per gallon-equivalent. The base price is a comfortable $24,590, and the car runs of compressed natural gas. What may be the best part about this car is that you’ll never have to wait at the pump line again: since compressed natural gas can be hard to find, Honda sells the car with an at-home pump that uses your home’s natural gas line to fill ‘er up.
The baby of the hybrid world, the Toyota Prius has long been a favorite for it’s great gas mileage. Clocking it at a whopping 45 mpg overall, the Prius is a mid-sized sedan with a generous interior and plenty of features to keep even the biggest techie satisfied.
The Nissan Altima Hybrid is new to the fuel-efficient car race, but at about $25,170 for a base model, it sits comfortably in the running for most popular. At an impressive 34 mpg overall, the vehicle sports a finely-tuned hybrid system that balances well the great city mileage and slightly lower highway mileage.
