Buying a Car: Know What You Want
Buying a new car is a big investment and one where a bit of bargaining and preparation can save you quite a bit of money. That means the key to car bargain hunting is to be prepared, as per these tips from Girls Just Wanna Have Funds:
- Organize your finance before you visit a dealer. There are several advantages - not using the dealer financing means you’ll probably get a better deal, and you’ll know up front what your finance limit is.
- Know what car you want and stick to your guns. Do your research on the possible features and add-ons and decide what you must have, what you definitely don’t want, and what you would like but could live without. Use this background for your bargaining and if you’re firm on the ideas before you go to the dealer you won’t be tempted by their offer of a dozen extras that you really don’t need or want.
- Shop around online. The prices offered online will often be considerably lower than the price a salesman will offer you if you randomly walk into a dealership. Take evidence of the online price offer and use it as a bargaining tool at your local dealer.
- Be nice and stay calm. Don’t get upset if the salesman won’t meet you halfway in bargaining, and don’t storm off. Just repeat your position calmly and with a smile. If they still don’t want to do business with you, smile and walk away.
