Of course you want your wedding day to be a special one, but you don’t want to spend the next ten years paying it off. There’s a happy balance to be struck, and these tips will help you save some money on wedding costs:
- Create your own wedding invitations: with the software and printers available today, you can have a personalized and prettier invitation, at a fraction of the cost.
- Flowers are expensive. Think of other creative ways to decorate your wedding venues, such as using balloons.
- When you’re asking for quotes and making arrangements, don’t tell people it’s a wedding. That often increases the price automatically, but if you just say it’s for a family party, the cost will very often be lower. Unfair, but true.
- Cut down on your guest list. Is it really so important to have great-aunt Agatha’s second cousin? It’s meant to be your day, and why should you go into debt for people you barely know? If they’re offended, they’re probably not worth keeping in touch with anyway.
- Ignore all the extras that wedding professionals will try to sell you. Think of the useless items you’ve seen on the tables at other weddings, and remember that nobody will notice if they’re not there.
