Cheap Gifts at the Something Store

A friend of mine just told me that she was waiting on a birthday gift from the Something Store and I was pretty intrigued. If you’re looking for an interesting gift for someone that won’t cost you the earth, it might be worth checking out, just for something that’s a bit different.

It works like this: every gift costs $10 and is posted to the recipient without any additional mailing costs (within the US: they won’t send to other countries at the moment). You can also buy yourself a “something” gift, but it seems more fun to me to send it to someone else. The package will contain something totally random, which means it may or may not suit the recipient, but most of the fun is in the anticipation of what it could be.

For example, it could be a soccer ball, jewelry, a CD, a clock, coffee machine or an incense kit. For $10, you can’t expect much, but you can expect a bit of fun. It’s probably a good way to send a gift to a “someone who has everything” relative or friend. While there’s no guarantee that you’ll end up with a product that’s worth the $10, the surprise value and free postage makes it sound OK. The feedback on their page is perhaps 60% or more positive, so it could be worth a try.
