Money Experts Say Money Isn’t Everything

Are you dreaming of winning the lottery, or scheming to make as much money as you possibly can? You might be surprised to hear that a lot of financial experts say that money’s not important.

Of course, we need money to live, and a bit more money to be comfortable and secure. But what some financial planners are saying is that too many of us are focused on trying to accumulate more money for the future, instead of actually using money to live a happy, comfortable life right now. In other words, the whole point is not to get money - in fact, the whole point is to have the ability to pay for goods and services which are important and meaningful to you in your life.

One very important part of this philosophy is to have a job you enjoy. Some of us find a well-paid job, probably with long hours, and try to invest as much of this money as possible into stocks, property or pension funds. This is all about the future, and without any thought for enjoying life now as well. In fact, some experts say, that having a relatively low paid job, but one that you love doing and makes your life meaningful, is far more important than stashing thousands away in investment funds.

If you’re unhappy in your job, step back and reconsider the goals you have for life, and how you can best serve them financially. There might be better ways.
