Studying Abroad: Can You Get Your Degree Cheaper?

credit: Neil CareyIt’s becoming increasingly common to spend one semester of your degree abroad, both to enjoy a different cultural experience and it because it looks good on your resume. But with the costs of college education always increasing, you could even consider completing your entire degree abroad.
Education systems around the world are all markedly different, but it is definitely possible to get a quality education outside the United States for a cheaper price. Of course, that could depend on how many times you want to fly home during your course, but the possibility is there.
When you are checking cost information for universities abroad, be sure to check those relevant to international students. Broadly speaking, tuition fees for international students in the UK are equal or more than the costs in the US, while costs in Australia or New Zealand are cheaper. You can also look beyond English-speaking destinations: many universities in Scandinavia offer college degrees fully delivered in the English language. The course price is usually cheaper there, but the cost of living is high.
Studying a full degree abroad takes a lot of planning, and you need to check into all the details like course fees, cost of living and hidden costs, before you commit yourself. But don’t automatically rule it out as an option if you’re scared by the cost of a college education at home.
